The Hole

Marcy's eyes widened in shock as he collapsed on the floor, his legs shaking uncontrollably. The sound of his labored breathing and the feeling of his body heaving against the ground were the only things she could hear.

She stood there, frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. John, her husband, was a man she'd known for over fifty years, but today, he seemed a different man. His eyes, which had always held a warmth and kindness, were now clouded with fear and uncertainty.

"How did it happen, Marcy?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

He tried to speak, but his voice was barely audible, a distant murmur. "It's...it's just happened." He stumbled forward, his footsteps hesitant and uncoordinated. "I don't know what to do."

Marcy took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "Don't worry, John. We're together. We'll get through this. You're not alone."

He looked at her, his expression a mixture of fear and desperation. "What happened, Marcy? Why are you so scared?"

She felt a lump form in her throat. "It's...it's...he...he's gone."

The Last Photograph

The last photograph. It was an omen.

His voice trembled as he tried to process the words. "It's...it's just...he's gone. I don't know what to do without him."

He looked down at his hands, his fingers trembling. "I...I...I don't know how to carry you."

Marcy reached out, her hand hovering over his. "You're not alone, John. You're always here."

He let out a sigh, a mixture of relief and despair. "Thank you for being here."

She took his hand in hers, her grip tightening. "I'll be there for you, no matter what."

He looked at her, his eyes filled with a newfound determination. "We'll get through this, Marcy. We always get through this."

He took a deep breath, his resolve hardening with each word. "We'll get through this together."

Marcy's eyes widened even further into shock as he collapsed on the floor, his legs shaking uncontrollably.

"Where is that? Where did I go?" Marcy whispered, her voice strained.

He tried to speak, but his voice was barely audible, a distant murmur. "It's...it's just happened. We're not here anymore."

Marcy took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "Where are you?"

He looked at her, his expression a mixture of fear and desperation. "I don't know...I don't know how to find you. We're gone."

Marcy's heart sank. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

He tried to reach for her hand, but his fingers felt clumsy and weak. "Yes, I am. I am here. I am just...I'm so scared."

He looked up at her, his eyes darting around the room, as if he couldn't quite trust her. "I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do anymore."

Marcy's mind reeled. "John, it's not over. We're still here, but...I'm scared for you. I'm scared that I'll be left alone."

He tried to speak again, but his voice was a whisper. "I need to go. I need to go. I don't know where to go."

Marcy reached for his hand, but his grip felt loose. "Don't leave me. Don't leave me here. Don't leave me alone."

He stood up, his legs shaking. "I'm going. I'm going to...I'm going to somewhere. I don't know where."

Marcy's breath hit her chest. "Where are you going?"

He looked at her, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. "I don't know...I don't know. I don't know."

Marcy stood there, frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. "What is happening to me?"

He tried to reach for her, but his fingers felt clumsy and weak. "I need to go. I need to go. I don't know where."

The Last Photograph

Eyes widening.

He turned and walked out of the room, his feet moving quickly and deliberately. Marcy stood there, frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked down at his footsteps, the distant echoes of his voice still ringing in her mind.

"What is happening to you, John?" she whispered, her voice strained.

He tried to speak again, but his voice was a whisper. "I need to go. I need to go. I don't know where."

He turned and walked out of the room, his footsteps echoing in the silence. Marcy stood there, frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked down at his footsteps, the distant echoes of his voice still ringing in her mind.

"What is happening to you, John?" she whispered, her voice strained.

Marcy's eyes widened one final time, now in extreme shock as she stood there, frozen, her heart pounding in her chest. The sound of his labored breathing and the feeling of his body heaving against the ground were the only things she could hear.

"Where is that? Where did I go?" Marcy whispered, her voice strained.

He tried to speak, but his voice was barely audible, a distant murmur. "It's...it's just happened. We're not here anymore."

The Last Photograph

The only escape.

Marcy's mind reeled. "John, it's not over. We're still here, but...I'm scared for you. I'm scared that I'll be left alone."

He tried to speak again, but his voice was a whisper. "I need to go. I need to go. I don't know where."

John sunk into the ground, dissolving into a formless pool of emptiness. It was destined to be.
